Reboot Your Imagination

I know that this is another moan about movies, but when you enjoy films as much as me, you want there to be new ideas to grab you and keep you gripped.

It has now come to a point where I need to voice my opinion regarding reboots. For those of you who don't know, a reboot is what the filmmakers use to reinvent a story whilst disregarding any continuity from the original story we love. Reboots are often considered "safe" by the filmmakers as the movie franchise already has an established fan base.

Now, I know that many people will bitch and moan about reboots before they have even been released, but there are some remakes that are totally uncalled for.

I do not understand why people will sit around a board room table and say "I know what we can reinvent". Sometimes when I watch a reboot, I do think that the film would have been much better if they had not given it the same name and characters.

There are some good reboots out there, although not many. Batman for example was a good reboot with Christian Bale as the Dark Knight. This was much better than Val Kilmer or George Clooneys portrayal of the rubber clad superhero.

I only like to see reboots if they work, there needs to be a significant amount of time before it is done, not like they are doing with Spider-Man. Also, the reboot should not destroy the classic that has never got old.

Good Reboots
Batman Begins
Star Trek
.......erm, that's about it

Bad Reboots
The Pink Panther
The Day The Earth Stood Still
Psycho
Get Carter

I'm not saying that the bad reboots are so bad you shouldn't watch them, I'm just saying that they should not mess with a classic. As I said before, if they had called it something different, my view of the film may have been better.
