Abusing the welfare system seems to be easy for many people with low or no morals, however this is still allowed to happen. These programs are in place for the correct reasons but idiots decide to abuse the system. Some people choose to stay on welfare for most of their life as it is 'easy' for them and this habit is passed down through the generations who see this as being the way to live.
There are programs out there for single parents that help them to get a car, clothing or living allowances. This should be a one off help for them to give a good start to the childs future, however there are people out there who have been getting handouts from the government in abundance for several years as they have found a loophole in the system. I see these types of people who spend over £100 a week buying the most expensive and lavish things from the supermarket wearing the designer clothing and then pile in the kids they can afford to have along with the shopping into the new car.
A recent case that has been in the news was the eviction of the Rostant family in London who were reported to be receiving in excess of £2000 every week in housing benefit alone. This was part of the governments scheme to crackdown on benefit abusers and send a warning out those who do it:
"It's not if they catch you, it's when they do"
The average payment is £87.01 per week, and with the number of payments being made is nearly 5 million each time, this equates to more than £20 billion each year in housing benefit being funded by the UK taxpayer.
The people who choose to stay on benefits do so because it is being allowed and nothing is being said. The next time you wonder how someone can afford all the nice things and not go work, it is more than likely you are paying for them to do it.
