Think Before You Speak

This article is to highlight the stupidity of words and sentences that people use in everyday situations. Sometimes they are used by people to give their side of the conversation flair (clearly doesn't work) or as a conversation filler because they have nothing better to say.

We've been there when you've said something wrong and quickly corrected yourself with little or no mocking at your expense. But, how many times have your heard someone say something and you have had to
listen to it again and again in your head only to think "what a moron".

There are many examples of such a moment, here are just a few:

- "It's always in the last place you look". This is commonly used by people when they search for something that has been misplaced. Honestly, it will always be in the last place you look because once you've found it you won't carry on looking.

- "You're catching me up". Used mostly when someone older is discussing your age with you. I am never going to 'catch you up' because the age gap will never change.

- "A penny saved is a penny earned". No, it simply doesn't work like that. A penny saved is just a penny not spent. Keeping said penny does not equate to you gaining another penny by another means.

- "The pen is mightier than the sword". Seriously, I would like to meet the person who came up with this and ask them to choose their weapon.

- "Same difference". Which word are you struggling to grasp the meaning of, is it same or difference. Please let me know and I will get Google to explain it for you.

- "What's done is done". If you want to play that game, I will play along. By your logic there is no going back and changing it, is there?

- "New and Improved". Is it really? If its improved then it I'd not really new, and if it's new it certainly hasn't been around long enough to have an improvement.

- "I thought to myself". Doesn't it always work that way?

- "Where were you when you had it last?" Seriously, if I knew that I would know where it was

In conclusion, this is just a warning, you may think it sounds clever or just an awkward silence filler, but trust me, it's better to keep your mouth shut.
